Band of Gypsyz “Machine Gun” – Fillmore East, NYC – January 1st, 1970

Recompiled video footage of the historic 1970 New Year’s Day second set performance at New York City’s Fillmore East theater by Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Miles and Billy Cox, and synched to the original high fidelity audio recording.

  1. I own this concert on CD and DVD. I wrote and recorded an instrumental song “The Battle” that’s an homage to this band and to this song, in particular.

This is one of the greatest bands EVER. Interestingly, this album wasn’t even something Jimi planned on. He recorded these 2 shows at the Fillmore East to fulfill a contractual obligation to a scumbag business executive (I think his name was Michael Jeffrey).

This is one of the most influential bands in Rock and Funk Rock history. Buddy Miles is a music legend in his own right and Billy Cox was in Jimi’s band in the army.

    Great post.
