Dave Chappelle Speaks On Police Violence At Ohio

If you thought that Dave Chappelle was living it up in a deluxe penthouse in New York City you wouldn’t be further from the truth. The comedy star and his family actually live a mostly quiet life on a farm in a town called Yellow Springs  Ohio.

However, despite living in a village of less than 4000 people, Chappelle still can’t escape police violence and chose to speak out on it at a recent town hall meeting.

New York Daily News reports that Chappelle appeared at a meeting this past Monday to speak on an incident that occurred on New Year’s Eve where police officers attempted to use tasers on a crowd of people.

While the officers missed the meeting, the mostly white crowd was noticeably disturbed following the interaction and Chappelle took it upon himself to leave early.

“In all fairness, the crowd was drunk … because it was New Year’s Eve. And I left early, because nobody felt completely right,” he explained.

The local police chief resigned two days after the incident and the village is looking to hire a replacement.

“I would beseech the council to look deeply and to look hard because this is a golden opportunity,” Chappelle said. “Literally you could kill the game. In this Trump era, there’s an opportunity to show everybody that local politics reigns supreme. We can make our corner of the world outstanding.”
